NU MEIO has been running since 1996 and it mocks the relationship between a quintessentially Portuguese couple who take refuge in fado and slander. Firmino delineates a territory in the middle of the stage, which the two characters can’t exit, and Mila obsessively tries to climb, grab, suffocate this ‘man-mountain’. The dialogue between the characters is like a soap opera, full of platitudes, words that explain comings and goings, strident laughter and church singing turned operetta. There are references to recent events from the location where the show is presented. In order to complement the dialogues, the creators collect love stories by interviewing couples of different generations. It all comes to an end with a ball in which everyone takes part. With live music by Donatello Brida and guest DJs Filippo Lippi & Ivan Carlo. — Filipa Francisco & Bruno Cochat
