“Árida” questions the very concept of body and space, exploring their possibilities, testing their limits, questioning their definition.
What are we thinking about when we imagine the body? And space? How do we expect the body to manifest itself? And space? How do we conceive the relationship between them? Is it only possible to choreograph ‘ the body’ ? And might space be made tangible? “Árida” extends the collaboration between Maria Ramos and the lighting designer Vinny Jones after “Something Still Uncaptured”. If the ideas discussed in the latter were moderation and the thickening of space, what they called ‘landscape-in-action’ , in this work they develop this notion but explore the ideas of the aridness, vastness and expansion of the stage set.
