Cria is an affection and sensuality performance that summons dancinha [little dance], passinho [little step]—Brazil’s first urban dance style— funk and theatre dance.
The piece looks into the notion of creation, its meanings and possibilities: to create a performance, to create a new technique such as passinho, to raise children. Little creatures. The making of all of us, originating from a sexual act, which is so similar to dance. Sprout. The dance of life in the slums, a tightrope where one values every moment. The heart saying “hit me!”, and every slap of suffering
