The meeting between a visual artist and a circus artist, an installation that is the set design of a choreographic work inscribed in the landscape.
“Floe” is both a visual work from Vincent Lamouroux and a choreographic and performative work, symbolising the meeting of two artistic disciplines. The installation with five white blocks of different shapes and sizes forms a composite whole of volumes arranged next to each other, putting their specific orientations and inclines in perspective. A dialectic is created between the visual form and the environment in which it is created. It acts as an ‘illuminated mirror’ of this outdoor space: contrast, disparity and difference gives rise to incongruity, surprise and contemplation. “Floe” brings a body face to face with a space in a pure approach devoid of all artifice. A man will be at one with this surprising topography, which he will have to cross for his own salvation. The exploration of this ‘terra incognita’ follows the path taken by a man who appears and disappears according to the asperity of the sculpture, falls, climbs, waits, hangs, slides, falls again, gets up and continues on his way… in a series of actions and physical constraints (height, gravity, resistance) to be ‘played’.
