"Projecto Espiões" examines the relationship between the performance arts and the construction and conveying of cultural memory from a personal perspective.
Based on the individual and collective memories of some of the artists in her life — the dancer/choreographers Francisco Camacho, Miguel Pereira and Sílvia Real — Filipa Francisco identifies an unrivalled heritage in the memory of these choreographers and designs a creative and affirmative gesture given the scarcity of records and documentation on dance in thenational Portuguese panorama. Following on from previous projects like “ Íman” , built on the individual memories of African dance and hip hop performers, or “ A Viagem” , which explores traditional dance as a means of connecting with the body, “ Projecto Espiões” aims to enhance a legacy embodied in the confrontation between repertoires and personal mental imagery and new choreographic gestures.
