CRL – Central Elétrica is a creation and residency centre in Porto that works in the area of disciplinary crossings, with a focus on the performing arts. It organises its activity around two core areas of action, namely its own creations, and residencies and programming, in the belief that the integrated development of both generates unique ways of thinking and doing both. Eco-thinking, memory, geo-poetics and southern views are the conceptual topics it has been addressing in its recent projects.

André Braga is a director, choreographer, set designer and performer. With a postgraduate degree in dance from ESMAE – Higher School of Music and Performing Arts, he is the artistic director of CRL – Central Elétrica, where he has developed his artistic career, which has already produced 30 original creations that have travelled to 21 countries. His career is recognised by the uniqueness with which he works across disciplines and the languages of the body and movement. Projects that work with communities and turn places into the main creative material have also taken centre stage in his work.

Cláudia Figueiredo is the artistic director of CRL – Central Elétrica and is responsible for designing projects and dramaturgy. She has developed her artistic career at CRL, which has already produced 30 original creations, building a unique language based on the concept of transdisciplinarity. She has a degree in sociology from the Faculty of Letters of the University of Porto and is currently pursuing a doctorate in artistic studies at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Coimbra.

Panaibra Canda lives and works in Maputo. He has been developing artistic projects alongside artists from Southern Africa and Europe, as well as in collaboration with artists from other artistic disciplines, since 1993. He has developed several networks, including the first contemporary dance platform in Mozambique, now called Kinani, and Kanda Yetu, an international dance symposium for artists from southern Africa.
