Brigel Gjoka was born in Albania and trained in Tirana and Cannes, working as a choreographer, dance teacher, and professional stage dancer. He directed for seven years Bologna-based Art Factory International Contemporary Dance Platform. As dancer, Gjoka worked with Ballet du Rhin, StaatsTheater Mainz, Netherlands Dance Theater and The Forsythe Company where he danced a wide range of Forsythe’s repertoire. For the last two decades, he has travelled around the globe performing in renowned dance festivals, creating new projects and teaching dance workshops. Presently he is touring worldwide with his last creation NEIGHBOURS in co-creation with RubberLegz, produced by Sadler’s Wells.
