João Fiadeiro belongs to the generation of choreographers that emerged in the late 80's originating the New Portuguese Dance. As an artist he is positioned at the intersection between performance, dance, visual arts and theatre. As a researcher he is positioned at the intersections between practice and theory, art and science, and life and art. In 1990 he founded the company RE.AL, a structure that produces and disseminates his creations and the work of emerging artists.

Between 2004 and 2019 he directed Atelier Real, a space that hosted artist-researchers in residency and programmes transdisciplinary events. At the end of the 1990s he began the systematization of Real Time Composition, a theoretical and practical tool to support creation, decision making and collaboration, which has led him to carry out workshops in several national and international schools and universities.
