Marcelo Evelin is a dancer, choreographer and researcher, and lives between Teresina and Amsterdam. He works in Brazil, Europe and Japan as an independent artist at the helm of Demolition Incorporada, at CAMPO, a residency space for the performing arts in Teresina. He created De Repente fica Tudo Preto de Gente [Suddenly Everywhere Is Black with People], Batucada, A Invenção da Maldade [The Invention of Evil] and Uirapuru, which tour theatres and festivals all over the world. He teaches at the Amsterdam University of the Arts and develops projects with institutions such as ISAC – Higher School of Arts and Choreography of Brussels, Queen Sofia Museum (Madrid), the Exerce master’s degree (Montpellier), and the National Dance Centre (France). In 2019, he received the title of honoris causa doctor from the Federal University of Piauí.
