The work of Marta Soares explores the possibilities of intersecting dance, visual arts and performance art. Among others, she received the Artist Fellowship from the Japan Foundation, which she used to study butoh dance with Kazuo Ohno in Tokyo, and the Research and Artistic Creation Fellowship from the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation for Latin America. In Brazil, she created the solo pieces Les Poupées [The Dolls], O Homem de Jasmim [The Man of Jasmine] and Bondages, and the choreographic installations O Banho [The Bath] and Vestígios [Traces], among others. She is currently carrying out research for her next work, Pantofagia.
