NÉ BARROS is a choreographer and dancer. Throughout her career she has pursued her artistic and scientific work in tandem. She holds a doctorate in Dançe (FMH, UTL) and a Master of Arts in Dance Studies from the Laban Centre (City University, London), and is a researcher at the Instituto de Filosofia (Institute of Philosophy) in the Aesthetics, Politics and Arts Group (UP). She began her training in classical dance and later worked in contemporary dance and choreographic composition at Smith College, in the United States. In her projects she has collaborated with photographers, musicians, plastic artists and cinematographers. As well as Balleteatro, an organisation she founded and directs, she has worked with Companhia Nacional de Bailado (Portugal's National Ballet Company) and Ballet Gulbenkian. She teaches at Esap and by invitation at various institutions.
