performingborders brings the Live Art Writers Network (LAWN) to DDD, fostering conversations around experimental writing in dialogue with performance and live art. LAWN centers writers and artists whose practices are shaped by lived experiences of intersectional borders—cultural, juridical, racial, gendered, class-based, physical, economic, and every day. This project aims to create a space for reflection, critique and innovative approaches to creative/critical writing in relation to performance. Drawing from its 2024 iterations at CITEMOR Festival (Portugal), Fierce Festival and METAL (UK), in Porto, performingborders and DDD will co-commission three writers to engage with the festival’s programme, participate in discussions, receive mentorship from local professionals, and produce multidisciplinary reflective texts. The commissioned pieces will be shared publicly after the festival, contributing to a growing dialogue on the intersections of art, writing, and border experiences.
